Staff Feature: Jess LeJeune

Role: Sales Executive/Skyborne Admissions Team

At Skyborne, the journey to becoming a professional pilot looks different for everyone. For Jess LeJeune, that journey has been shaped by a love of aviation, a passion for people, and a career that has taken her far beyond the airport terminal.

Today, as part of Skyborne’s Admissions team, Jess helps aspiring pilots take their first steps toward a career in aviation, while continuing to support them long after that first conversation.

Jess’s connection to aviation began more than 20 years ago, when she became a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines.

It was there that she discovered just how much she enjoyed the world of aviation and the people at the heart of it.

Being from a small town in Alabama, flying really gave Jess something she valued deeply: the opportunity to see the world.

With her career taking her to new heights, she eventually transitioned to United Airlines as a flight crew member, providing her flexibility whilst flying.

Later during her time with United, she began thinking about how she could use the flexibility of her schedule to explore another passion she had developed along the way, bringing her to cosmetology and skincare.

During her layovers, Jess would often treat herself to spa experiences around the world. She became fascinated by the different products, treatments and techniques she encountered, and those experiences sparked an interest that eventually led her to attend aesthetician school.

For several years, she pursued that path, building a career around another passion while continuing to fly.

But aviation never quite left her.

Eventually, Jess realized that her first love was still where she wanted to spend most of her working life.

She returned to aviation full-time with Mokulele Airlines, where she continued flying and living in Hawaii, exploring a whole different part of the world than she had previously seen.

Looking back, one of the things Jess loved most about being a flight attendant was the sense of community she found in the skies.

Her fellow crew members became like family away from home, while the relationships she built with pilots made the experience even more rewarding.

“I realized I got to see the world and was paid to do it.”

But for Jess, the job was about more than the destinations. She particularly loved being a source of comfort for passengers who were nervous about flying, traveling for the first time, or simply needed someone to help guide them through the experience.

Being able to offer reassurance and make people feel safe became one of the most meaningful parts of her work.

Over time, Jess began to recognize that what she enjoyed most was not only aviation itself, but the relationships she built within it.

She loved being someone people could turn to for guidance and support. A role that ultimately led her to Skyborne Airline Academy.

Today, Jess is the first person a prospective student meets when they begin exploring a future in aviation.

As part of the Admissions team, she helps answer questions, guide students through the enrollment and onboarding process, give campus tours and provide support throughout their journey.

Her role, however, doesn’t end once a student is admitted. Jess remains a familiar and supportive presence as students navigate the challenges of flight training, helping them find answers, offering guidance when needed and reminding them that the career they are working toward is within reach.

For Jess, that is what makes her role at Skyborne so meaningful. She understands what it feels like to build a career in aviation, to take an unexpected turn, and ultimately to find your way back to the industry you love.

Now, she gets to help others take their own first steps.

From cosmetology, back to welcoming nervous first-time flyers, to helping future pilots believe that an aviation career is possible, Jess has built her career around one thing: making people feel supported.

And at Skyborne, she gets to do exactly that! While helping the next generation of pilots find their own place in the skies.
