Meet Skyborne trainee Katie Stokes

A bit about me:

“Over time, through exposure and curiosity, I started to develop an interest in aviation. Around the age of 15 I had a trial lesson in a glider at my local airfield and very quickly realised that flying was something I wanted to do as a career.

When it came to choosing Skyborne, I had visited a handful of flying schools but found that Skyborne stood out the most, without doubt, my preference. Skyborne ticked all the right boxes for me and has not only met my expectations but exceeded them. Whilst facilities, pricing, accommodation, and training standards were all very important factors to me, it was clear from the moment I walked in the door, that, unlike other schools, Skyborne were interested in me as an individual. From my two separate visits to Skyborne, I was left feeling both calm and excited about the prospect of starting my training.

Life in the aviation industry can be unpredictable, so being equipped with aviation management skills through the BSc Hons Degree with University West London is a great addition to my training. The degree has also given me more flexibility with funding options due to the student loans you can access.

I was very grateful to have been one of the first to receive the £1 MILLION bursary offering with Skyborne. I had already made my decision on Skyborne prior to the announcement but this news only proved to me that I had made the right choice.

When choosing a flight school, it was important to me that it provided the right training protection. Skyborne’s protection policy reflects their confidence, not only in their selection of students but also in their own training standards.

Once graduated I look forward to working with the recruitment team to secure a job with an industry leading airline. I would love to one day fly alongside my dad.”
