Our Progressive Continuous Learning methodology focuses on developing talent and absorbing new skills from our vastly experienced instructors.
During a students training, Skyborne monitors technical and non-technical performance via a Student Review Board process. This ensures that students are offered the appropriate level of support to reach their full potential.
Student safety is our number one priority. Our tried and tested methods and the use of the very latest technology ensures that each and every student is fully equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to help them learn and fly in a safe and purpose-built environment. Our hands-on teaching principles delivered by our expert instructors gives our students the confidence they require on the ground that they can carry with them in the skies.
At our Vero Beach, Florida Academy, we have an approved in-house FAA Certified maintenance facility where we keep our training fleet in excellent condition. With pre and post flight checks by our expert mechanics team, they work tirelessly to keep our aircraft fully maintained under the FAA Part 145 Progressive Maintenance Program and ramp ready.
Our maintenance team is top of the line. All our A&P mechanics are highly qualified and skilled individuals that have extensive knowledge in aircraft maintenance and upkeep. Our A&P mechanics are so good that less than 1% of all cancelled flights are due to aircraft mechanical problems.
The FAA requires that all aircraft are inspected every 100 hours of operation. We are on a progressive maintenance schedule where we inspect each aircraft every 60 hours. This allows us to ensure safe aircraft operation for our new pilots, especially in our single-engine aircraft.
We understand that attending a top flight training school like Skyborne doesn’t matter if students struggle to land their dream job of becoming an airline pilot. While the pilot shortage does make the job search exponentially easier on our graduates, we also help connect them with major airline and regional airlines while they are training at our school.
We are proud partners with Delta Air Lines, Endeavor Air, JSX, Skywest, Envoy, and Avelo. All our partners routinely come to our school to present on their airlines and meet with students. They have the opportunity to attend these free networking events and make connections that will benefit them when they complete their training.
Skyborne has a team of experienced and professional recruiters whose role is to support graduates through airline selection and placement. Each Skyborne graduate is encouraged to create as many airline placement opportunities as possible with our support. Our Graduate Services Team will be on hand to ensure students are well prepared for assessments that they will need to face.
Funding professional flight training can be a challenge, which is why Skyborne has teamed up with America’s leading financial organizations – Sallie Mae and Meritize. This allows students to fund their entire flight training with either of these organizations, sometimes without any need for a co-sign.
Students can apply to receive funding up to the full flight training amount through our relationship with Sallie Mae and the Smart Option Student Loan.
Meritize can offer unsecured funding, with no co-sign requirement for eligible candidates who want to fund their flight training, up to the full amount, and beyond.
Housing at Skyborne is very similar to a college campus experience. We have purpose-built dorms located on campus, making ground school and the flight line only a short walk away. All our dorms require at least one other roommate. Roommates are typically around a similar level of training.
Our on-campus housing is significantly cheaper than renting in the local Vero Beach area. Housing for the full extent of training is less than $10,000 in addition to the total training cost.
All our ground school instructors and flight instructors have extensive knowledge in their field and have a passion for teaching. Many of our ground school instructors come from airline or military pilot backgrounds.
Most CFIs have been hired after completing their CFI rating at Skyborne, others have come from different aviation schools.
Once training is completed at Skyborne, we continue to provide ongoing support through our Alumni platform. Allowing past students to remain connected both professionally and socially. The global Skyborne graduate community can reconnect with former training classmates and continue to engage with the Skyborne team. It is also a great opportunity for our graduates to share their successes and experiences with those in the same shoes.
The platform also provides ongoing access to independent, confidential well-being support through our Red Umbrella partnership. A service that can be accessed at any time and for any reason, both professional and personal, and is available at Skyborne’s preferential rate.
