Cadet spotlight, Karri Dhanashree

Name: Karri Dhanashree

Programme: IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme

Skyborne IndiGo Cadet, Karri Dhanashree gives us an inside look into her aviation journey here at Skyborne, Vero Beach. Covering some parts that aren’t always talked about during cadet training.

Karri wanted to show aspiring cadets a transparent view into everyday wins and challenges, what’s changed for her since starting her training, as well as her hopes for the future. Keep reading to take a closer look:

What part of your aviation journey do people rarely see or talk about?
“I think people only see the glamorous side of aviation, the uniform, the cockpit, and the beautiful views from above. What often goes unnoticed are the countless hours of studying, early mornings, sleepless nights and the emotional ups and downs. There are days filled with self-doubt, setbacks, and failures that no one posts about.

It’s about pushing through and practicing self-discipline, while not forgetting why you started in the first place. Becoming a pilot is much more than learning to fly; it’s about building resilience when things don’t go as planned.”

What challenge has changed you the most since beginning your training, and what did it teach you?
“The biggest challenge for me was dealing with failure and things not going as planned because it made me question my abilities. But looking back, it changed me for the better.

These instances taught me to stop chasing perfection and start focusing on consistent improvement. I became more disciplined, more prepared, and more confident under pressure. I learned that failure doesn’t define you, rather how you respond to it does. Every setback made me a stronger and safer pilot.”

Fast forward five years, you’re walking through an airport in your airline uniform. What do you hope people remember about the journey it took to get there?
“I hope people remember that my journey wasn’t easy and that nothing came overnight. Behind that uniform were years of hard work, sacrifices, setbacks, and determination and countless sacrifices. I hope they see someone who never gave up, even when things got difficult.

More than being remembered as a pilot, I want to be remembered as someone who stayed humble, trusted the process, and proved that persistence can turn dreams into reality!”

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Karri! We can’t wait to see you soar!
