Meet Skyborne Graduate and IndiGo Pilot, Rajiv Bakshi

Name: Rajiv Bakshi
Career: IndiGo Pilot

Former Skyborne Cadet on our IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program recently got in touch with us to share his experience of training at Skyborne, and what it now means to him to be flying for his dream airline.

What made you choose the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program?
“I always knew since I was a small boy that I would try my best to become a pilot. However, I did not have anyone guiding me throughout the process. As I looked at IndiGo’s Cadet Pilot Program, I realized that everything was very clearly mentioned and guided through the process of how things will be done step by step.”

Why did you choose Skyborne for your flight training?
“Skyborne has always been the leader when it comes to flight training quality and standards. I had friends amongst the 8 batches before me who mentioned the same.”

How did you find the training, and did it differ from what you expected?
“The training that I went through was exceptional. The way things were taught, the instructors, the fleet of aircraft, and the infrastructure was amazing. All of my expectations had been far exceeded.”

What does a typical day in your life look like for you as a commercial airline pilot?
“Every day in my life as an airline pilot is full of surprises. Some days I am operating a sector and on the others, I am deadheading or going for training. I am very happy to have chosen this career as I like having responsibilities. And IndiGo always pushes me to be the best that I can be.”

What advice would you give to someone thinking about a career in aviation?
“I would say to definitely pursue aviation as a career. It takes a lot of sacrifice for one but at the end of the day, it is immensely rewarding in its own ways.”

Why should a cadet choose Skyborne and IndiGo?
“I would ask a cadet to choose Skyborne because they are known to have the best of instructors, aircraft, infrastructure, location. IndiGo are the largest and most consistent airline flying in the Indian skies at the moment. As an airline they take safety very seriously and the training offered by them once a cadet graduates is of another level. IndiGo is the only airline who does not train us to be first officers but they consider us to be future captains.”

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your journey with us, Rajiv. We are delighted to have played such an important part in your career. We wish you all the best with your future.
