Skyborne graduate, Zoe, has been fascinated by aviation since she was a toddler. Visiting Manchester airport regularly with family cemented her dream to fly commercially. Since then, Zoe has really applied herself to achieve her dream job and demonstrated incredible determination to get there.
In 2019, Zoe was gifted a trial flight which gave her the confidence to take her dream forward and make it a reality. She realised the financial commitment needed to pursue the career and took on two jobs during her A-Levels to make a head start.
All training options were considered and modular looked favourable as it would give Zoe the option to work alongside much of her training. Through her research she came across Skyborne and quickly learned about the University of West London partnership. This opened up financial support options for Zoe and it meant she could now consider an Integrated route which had always been her preferred option. There was no stopping her now!
Zoe joined Skyborne in November 2022. It was her first time away from home which was of course daunting, but she quickly made great friends with her course mates and those in training ahead of her. Settling in quickly with the support of the Skyborne team made it much easier to hit the ground running and focus on ground school.
These relationships proved invaluable during some of the tougher modules in ground school. Zoe said that the instructors were experts in their field and always took the time to offer additional guidance when needed.
Six months in Vero Beach was a training highlight, but it wasn’t until she commenced her IR and APS MCC phases of training that she felt she had all the skills and non technical qualities necessary to call herself a commercial pilot.
Zoe is now starting her dream career with her dream airline – easyJet. We are so proud of Zoe and all that she has achieved. Her determination, humility and resilience have really paid off.
Zoe had the following advice to share with aspiring pilots:
“During training, take one day at a time so it’s all manageable. You will get there – it’s important to collaborate with others on your course, they will help you through”.
