Graduate feature: Darcy Egginton

Meet Darcy, a Skyborne Graduate who has started her career with TUI.

She distinctly remembers being interested in becoming a pilot at a young age. She regularly visited grandparents who lived near Manchester airport and this connection sparked her passion.

Her decision to pursue a career in aviation seriously was around GCSE’s. She focussed on her studies and after completing sixth form she completed a trial flying lesson – it was then her mind was made up.

She attended a Pilot Careers Live event and an Open Day at Skyborne. It was then that her decision was made in terms of the route she wanted to take.

She joined Skyborne in September 2021, and particularly enjoyed flight training in Vero Beach. It was her first solo flight that she knew all her hard work had been worth it. She qualified in March 2023.

She credits Skyborne for helping her get to where she is now, as the preparation for the assessment day was hugely beneficial and gave her the confidence to believe in herself. She is loving working for TUI and the opportunities open to her.

Her sound advice for aspiring pilots is:

“Keep on going and stick with it, even when tough. Don’t be put off by anyone as people from all walks of life can succeed with the right training.”
