Dillon James’ journey truly is a ‘zero to hero’ tale as he decided at the age of seven that this was his career path.
Coming from a humble Welsh background, he clearly remembers a flight to Fuerteventura when his obsession with aviation was ignited. He used to daydream of being a pilot and his school books were filled with stickers and cut-outs of aircraft. As he progressed through education, he was sure to work hard to achieve the necessary grades and embrace every opportunity to develop his non-technical skills, such as leadership and communication.
Going straight into flight training was not an option for Dillon, but this did not stop him pursuing his dream. Dillon worked hard to save funds – at one point, working seven days a week!
With each challenge he faced whether personal, financial, emotional or professional, he pushed through and never lost sight of his goal.
As he approaches the end of his training, we are delighted to celebrate Dillon’s success in achieving a placement with TUI. All the hard work has been worth it.
Dillon had this to say to help other trainees starting out:
“The greatest test of all in flight training is ultimately your perseverance, passion and motivation. The licences you earn reflect this.”
