Graduate feature: Imy Earl

Meet Imy Earl, 24, from Princes Risborough who recently completed her Integrated Flight Training programme at Skyborne. Imy was exposed to aviation from a young age through family connections, but her passion was really ignited after a trial flight, age 14.

Her father was sponsored by BA to become a commercial pilot and Imy remembers her childhood with fondness, reflecting on many flights with him. She was exposed to a pilot lifestyle and this appealed to her for her own career.

Imy decided to get some life experience after school and worked as a youth worker. This opportunity afforded her the chance to meet people from all walks of life, develop her communication skills and many other non technical skills that she believes helped her in flight training and beyond.

Imy indulged her passion for aviation by taking up gliding, but it wasn’t until she attended a Pilot Careers Live event in 2019 that she discovered Skyborne and realised that this was the flight training school to help her fulfil her potential. After a visit to Skyborne HQ, she felt completely immersed and knew this was the right decision.

The stand out moment for Imy during her training journey was her first solo in Vero Beach, Florida.

Imy had this to say to inspire others;

“Be prepared for a lot of hard work when you join Skyborne. You do need grit and determination to get through the course but the buzz you get from flying and the friendships and fun you have along the way, make it all worthwhile.”
