Skyborne celebrates fifth anniversary of Integrated ATPL programme

On 16th April 2024, Skyborne marked five years of its flagship Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) programme. Since the first trainees arrived at Gloucestershire Airport in 2019, the course has been a cornerstone of Skyborne’s commitment to providing premier aviation training.

 

Lee Woodward, CEO, Skyborne, says: “I feel incredibly proud of what we have achieved in five short years. From the academy’s formation, building bespoke training facilities, acquiring aircraft and simulators and welcoming our first trainees, to where we are today; the journey has been remarkable. Our Gloucestershire base now works in tandem with our US academy in Vero Beach, Florida and we’ve built an expert team of the most talented instructors in the business who contribute to Skyborne’s success.”  

 

Despite challenges posed to aviation by the pandemic and Brexit, Skyborne has maintained an impressive track record, with 90% of its UK graduates securing airline placements to date. Since  receiving approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UKCAA) in 2019, Skyborne’s Integrated ATPL has seen outstanding growth, from its inaugural class, CP001, to its current cohort, CP33.

 

Carla Booth, Commercial Director, Skyborne, adds: “Witnessing our trainees go on to become first and second officers has been incredibly fulfilling. At Skyborne, we don’t just train pilots, we help them realise their potential and reach their goals. Our growing airline partnerships with British Airways, IndiGo, Delta Air Lines and SkyWest, among others, are testament to our commitment to helping our graduates thrive.”

 

Tadgh Walsh, Integrated ATPL trainee, Skyborne, says: “Joining Skyborne is and will always be a very special point in my lifetime. Like many, becoming a pilot has been a dream of mine since I was young, and commencing my training here is the first step to transforming that dream into a reality.”
