Learn essential Instrument Flight Rules training the Skyborne way

You will need an Instrument Rating (IR) attached to your licence if you want to fly under instrument flight rules. This rating permits you to fly in a range of weather conditions such as cloud and other instances of reduced visibility.

Course Requirements

You must be 18 years of age at time of course commencement.

You must have at least a PPL(A), and the privileges to fly at night in accordance with FCL.810, if the IR privileges will be used at night; or an ATPL in another category of aircraft (helicopter etc); or a CPL, in the appropriate aircraft category: have completed at least 50 hours of cross-country flight time as PIC in aeroplanes or TMGs, helicopters or airships, of which at least 10 must be on aeroplanes. You must have completed IR(A) or ATPL(A) Theoretical Knowledge.

You must be fluent in English, non-native English speakers must achieve a minimum of ICAO Level 6.

You must hold a current UK CAA Part-Med Class 1 or 2 Medical Certificate.
