From Skyborne to the Jet2 Flightdeck

We recently caught up with Toby Jackson after completing his integrated ATPL and now flying for Jet2. Here is what Toby had to say.

Preparing for the Journey
“Looking back, the support I received during the application process at Skyborne played a huge role in getting me to Jet2. Skyborne provided invaluable help with mock interview practice and guidance for the group exercise, which gave me the confidence and preparation I needed to succeed in the selection process for the Future Second Officer Programme at Jet2.”

What is your standout moment at Jet2 so far?
“A standout moment for me so far has to be my base training in Murcia. It was an unforgettable experience and one of the most fulfilling days of my career, taking the Boeing 737 into the air for the very first time. What made it even more special was sharing that experience with the rest of my course on the Future Second Officer Programme. After training together, we all went on to start our journeys at bases across the UK, which made it a meaningful milestone for all of us.”

What is your favourite thing about flying for Jet2
“One of my favourite things about flying for Jet2 is the people. From day one, I have been surrounded by incredibly friendly and supportive colleagues who all share the same goal, which is working together to give our customers the best possible start to their holidays. There is something really rewarding about being part of a team that helps people begin their trips to such a wide range of exciting destinations.”

Why Every Day Feels Different
“Flying itself is something I have always been passionate about, and what keeps it so engaging is the constant variety. No two days are ever the same. Whether it is operating into a new airport, adapting to changing weather conditions, or managing different operational challenges, every flight brings something new. That unpredictability is what makes the job so exciting and keeps you learning every single day.”

Looking Ahead
“This journey from aspiring pilot to flying passengers on holiday has been incredibly rewarding so far, and I am excited to see where it leads next.”
